What work is required of me as a member?
You are to volunteer for a variety of tasks and are expected complete as required.
For starters, everyone participates in the opening day work party (usually the second weekend in April).
On top of this, three other days of volunteer work is an excellent start (such as at clinics, tournaments, etc).
The deposit of $500 will not be cashed if your end of the agreement is satisfactory.
The club executive will review each member's efforts at the end of each year and make the decision then.
As per all clubs, strong member involvement is required to maintain a happy environment for all.
The club sanctions approximately 3 tournaments per year plus special events, coaching clinics and other charitable functions, all of which volunteers are a necessity.
What is available at Albert Dyck Park?
Albert Dyck Park is a public park in the city of Abbotsford, BC in which the FVWSC resides. For members with access to the club facility within the park, they are provided with a club boat (with a truck and trailer for launching), dock, slalom course, jump, ropes, handles, life jackets, waterskis, and essentially everything required to participate in the sport.
What is available at the Sumas Site?
The Sumas site is popular with the club's barefooters as it provides excellent glassy water and long runs. You must have your own boat to ski at this location as only a launch is provided.
Do I have to be a proficient waterskier to join?
Our members' abilities range from beginner to expert and we always welcome newcomers. Please do not hesitate to join if you would like to begin your waterski career for fun or train for world-class competition.
Can I come try it out before joining? When are Public Days?
We offer "Public Ski Days" on Thursday evenings in July and August. This is an excellent time to come try out the course, learn to get up on one, do some flips on your wakeboard or go for a few footin' runs.
